Specialism w3&4

Finalising concept and creating technical proof for the week 4 presentation.

Animation technical proof and practicing the principles with a flour bag rig

I decided I wanted to make two films one focusing on body mechanics and one on facial expressions/lipsync.

My 20 sec body mechanic animation was inspired by a fight I saw on tiktok because of the weight and comedic timing of the bar fight.

I made a quick animatic based on the movements and assigned a person with a colour to make it clearer for me who was doing what movement. In the next two weeks of planning and making animation tests. I will be developing this further and doing different movements and exaggerated levels to get the perfect fight.

I chose to pic simple models so I could focus on the body mechanics and changed the colours and slightly edited body types to help me while animating know who’s doing which movement.

I posed my characters in an action shot to show technical proof of what the end result will look close to for my pitch.

My other film will be an around 40-sec lipsync film that is shot in an over-the-shoulder loose close-up and tight mid-shot. I’m using their shots to minimize the body animating so I’m relying on facial and hand animation to tell the narrative. I chose a sound from the show Benidorm because of the non standard British accent in the show and comedic lines. I think this would stand out in my portfolio as most lipsync used in show reels use stand English or American accents.

Im using these rigs from Character Creator 4 because I’ve used the morph face rig before and liked the wide range of expressions I could get and want to push them even further in this project.

This is my pitch pack I created for my presentation. The main suggestions I got is the do lots of testing with my rigs, do x-sheets/dope sheets for my lipsync, plan the fight scene out fully with multiple options before starting and to break the rigs to see there range of movement and how far I can push them.
